“Printed electronics is a market with an enormous future potential and is destined to occupy a fixed place in our lives”. (Wolfgang Mildner – CEO, OE-A)

This is how experts in the industrial printing industry view the prospects for the development of completely new applications which use conventional printing technologies to print sensors, circuits, switches, displays and batteries directly onto suitable substrates.

This new segment, which exists alongside conventional printing inks, comprises conductive compounds that are printed in liquid or paste form. These functional materials can conduct electricity, insulate, store, alter colors and states or emit light.

Working in close cooperation with our business partner Kayaku Advanced Materials, Inc., one of the leaders in conductive printing inks, our objective is to deliver highly effective, custom-made solutions for our customers.

Our conductive printing inks can be used in rotary screen printing, flexo printing, rotogravure, pad printing and (soon) also in digital printing. These traditional printing processes have been adapted and developed to meet the exceptionally high technical demands of printed electronics.

Learn more about our expertise in the field of system solutions for printed electronics:

The quality window for reproducible resolution and the precision of the layer thickness is very small, setting the bar very high in terms of the standards of the compounds that are used. This is where our many decades of expertise as a Swiss developer of high quality printing inks helps us to continually refine the consistencies and thus open up new applications.

Printed electronics has already become a key process in low-complexity applications and for system integration of flexible materials. In order to compete successfully against the conventional silicon technology, material costs play an important role.

It doesn’t always have to be silver. Often, good conductibility can be achieved with a more cost-effective combination of material, particle shape and layer thicknesses. Printcolor and Kayaku Advanced Materials, Inc. are an experienced team who share the aim of boosting our customers’ ability to compete. Ask us, challenge us…
