Printcolor «USP Class VI» certified ink systems meet the strictest requirements for medical applications. They are biocompatible, FDA-compliant, and specifically designed for use on medical devices, ensuring maximum safety and reliability for your products.
What does USP Class VI mean?
USP Class VI is the highest classification of the United States Pharmacopeia for biological reactivity. Trough a full range of toxicology tests, it ensures that materials such as plastics, elastomers, and printing inks are non-toxic and biologically inert. These comprehensive tests are conducted by the American life science and contract research organization TOXiCON.
The certification includes three key tests:
- Systemic injection
- Intracutaneous toxicity
- Implantation test
These tests simulate contact with the human body, guaranteeing maximum safety and non-toxicity.
Why is this important?
Inks that pass USP Class VI are approved for direct and indirect contact with human tissue. They are suitable for:
- Class II and III medical devices
- Components for invasive or implantable devices
- Products requiring sterilization or chemical resistance
Typical applications:
- Syringes, catheters, IV components
- Diagnostic housings, inhalers
- Medical controls and labware
- Laboratory components and surgical instruments
